Preparing your own food allows you to control everything that goes in it.
Blood Sugar
Diabetes is often linked with kidney damage. More worryingly is that half of the people that have diabetes, don’t know that they have it. Checking your blood sugar level as part of a general body check-up is essential if you think that you have kidney damage. If your diabetes and blood sugar are under control, then you may limit the amount of damage done to your kidneys.
Blood Pressure
This is another silent killer that can sneak up on the best of people. Most people don’t feel that their blood pressure is increasing. You should get this checked out now and again to make sure that you are at a healthy level. This is especially important if you are middle-aged or older. Higher blood pressure puts more strain on your kidneys and damages them.
The normal adult blood pressure level is 120/80. If your blood pressure is consistently over that then you should consult your doctor. Though if you take care of yourself with a diet and exercise then you should be okay.
Fluid Intake
An annoying one to master but once you are in the habit of it then will be fine. You are recommended to have at least 8 cups or approximately 2 liters a day of water for a healthy person in a comfortable climate. This can change depending on pre-existing conditions and the amount of exercise that you do. Keeping on top of your water intake can be a real boon for your kidney.
