Have you noticed that many people get up first thing in the morning and then work solidly on their projects until they complete them? Goodbye Procrastination!

It’s true, right? They’re busy in the early hours before anyone else is awake, building their futures.

The problem, of course, is that most of us are constantly battling our procrastination demons. We’d love to hit the gym at 6 AM and then put in ten-hour days at work, but we just don’t have the get-up-and-go to make it happen.

The trick here is to change your state. You want to put yourself in a fundamentally different mental space from where you are now.

The key insight is that people create their own energy. It’s not a limited stock that you have to conserve throughout the week. It’s something you can add to regularly.

So what can you do to have a bit more get-up-and-go in your life? Here are some tried-and-tested ideas that really work.

Get Up And Do Something Fun

The first place to focus is on the levels of fun in your life. If getting up always feels like a chore, you’ll be less inclined to do it. Eventually, you won’t want to get up at all, and everything will feel like a dreadful bore.

Instead of going about your usual routine, give yourself something fun to look forward to in the morning. Remember, when you first set out on your journey, your goal isn’t to be productive immediately from 6 AM onwards. Instead, it’s to change your body’s rhythms. Spend More Time With Other People

Health gurus are always telling people to spend more time with others. Having an active social life is good for both body and mind.

If you feel like you’re lacking that oomph that other people have in life, get involved with something. Spend more time with other people. Make sure that you hang out with individuals who have qualities you aspire to.

Finish Something You Start

Here’s a biggie: finishing something you start.

How many people do you know (including yourself) who start something but never finish it?

For instance, they pick up a novel and tell themselves that they’re going to go all the way to the end but they wind up quitting after the first chapter. Or they say that they’re going to lose 20 pounds but stop after three.

The trick here is to find the satisfaction involved in finishing. Once you complete something, you feel considerably more at ease.

Stop Sitting On The Couch All Day

Sitting on the couch all day watching TV isn’t just bad for the body, it’s also bad for the mind. If you train yourself to accept lethargy, it will become a more common feature in your life.

Avoid sitting on the couch all day if you can. Instead, get up and do something – anything – as long as it is active. Mow the lawn, wash the dishes, or prepare dinner. Just do something that gets you out of the laziness rut.

Adjust Your Diet And Supplement Routine

The foods you eat and supplements you take can have a massive impact on how you feel. Some foods are incredibly energizing and able to keep you going all day, while others will leave you feeling exhausted and miserable the whole time.

Try to avoid eating too much meat, sugar, fat, or dairy. These foods tend to slow you down and make you feel sluggish. Try eating more whole plant foods, particularly at lunchtime if you are someone who experiences a midafternoon slump in energy levels.
