Benton Harbour, Michigan, Beats Big Cities in Budget Pizza Rankings, National Study Finds

Benton Harbour was found to be the third-most affordable city for pizza in America, with an average price of just $8.99.
The research, conducted by the lowest fee crypto exchange Chicksx.com, analyzed pizza prices across 223 cities nationwide to see where consumers get the best value.
Austin offers pizza at prices substantially lower than other major cities across the country. The Texas capital’s average price of $7.50 puts it at the top spot for budget-conscious pizza lovers nationwide.
Green Bay, Wisconsin, secures the second position with an average pizza price of $8.18. Pizza enthusiasts in this Midwestern city pay approximately 9% more than those in Austin, but still enjoy some of the nation’s most budget-friendly options.
In Benton Harbor, Michigan, pizza costs an average of $8.99, placing this Great Lakes city third in the rankings. This represents a 20% increase over Austin.
Lubbock, Texas comes in fourth with an average price of $9.02, making Texas the only state with two cities in the top five. The price difference between Austin and Lubbock is approximately 20%.
Vero Beach-Indian River, Florida, ranks fifth with pizza averaging $9.50. This coastal area offers pizzas at prices 27% higher than Austin.
The sixth spot goes to Harlingen, Texas, at $9.60, cementing Texas as a pizza value leader with three cities in the top ten. The state’s strong representation suggests regional economic factors may influence pizza pricing.
New Haven, Connecticut – famous for its distinctive pizza style – ranks seventh at $9.74. Despite its reputation as a pizza destination, New Haven maintains relatively affordable prices compared to other Northeastern cities.
Three cities tie to complete the top ten, with Charlotte, North Carolina, Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Jonesboro, Arkansas, all pricing pizza at $9.99. Arkansas is the second state with multiple entries in the most affordable rankings.

At the opposite end, San Francisco, California, tops the list of most expensive pizza cities. The average price of $17.39 in San Francisco is 132% higher than in Austin.
Just across the bay, Oakland, California, follows closely as the second most expensive pizza city at $17.32.
Sacramento, California, takes the third spot with an average price of $17.19, solidifying California’s position as home to the priciest pizza in America.
San Jose, California, is fourth at $16.99, completing California’s sweep of the top four most expensive pizza markets. The San Jose price is 126% higher than Austin’s.
The Pacific Northwest enters the list with Tacoma, Washington, ranking fifth at $16.30. This price point is 117% higher than Austin’s but still more affordable than California’s major cities.

“These findings reveal clear price differences for one of America’s favorite foods,” said Al Alof, CEO of Chicksx.com.
“A pizza lover in San Francisco pays more than twice what someone in Austin pays for essentially the same food item. These prices reflect the cost-of-living differences across regions. Budget-conscious travelers might want to satisfy their pizza cravings in Texas rather than California.”
