Birmingham, MI – The Guild of Artists & Artisans (The Guild), producers of the world-renowned Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, are proud to continue partnering with Common Ground to bring you the 51st annual Common Ground’s Birmingham Street Art Fair. This free to the public event will take place on September 13-14, and is moving back to S Old Woodward Avenue, between Maple Road and E Brown Street. The fine art fair will showcase 100 artists, art activities for kids and adults, and street food vendors. The event is within walking distance to convenient parking as well as close to the many unique stores and fabulous restaurants of downtown Birmingham.
The participating artists are jury-selected and include jewelry, ceramics, painting, glass, photography, fiber and more. The featured artwork for this year’s event is created by mixed media artist Yvonne Miller (Decatur, GA). There will be several local and regional artists, and some from across the country, such as Paul Fletcher (Painting; Westlake, OH), Bruce Reinfeld (Mixed Media; Philadelphia, PA), Chris Seeman (Metals; Cincinnati, OH), Emily Jenkins (Ceramics; Ann Arbor, MI), Oscar Matos Linares (Photography; Chicago, IL), and Ted July (Wood; Otisville, MI).
Visit Common Ground’s tent for fun and interactive activities,
such as art projects, temporary tattoos, games and more. Community Choice Credit Union (CCCU) will be passing out free cake pops to attendees, and there will be a variety of food options on-site for purchase—including Sugarcane Galore, WanderBowls, Cousins Maine Lobster, and The Chubby Batch—in addition to the diverse restaurant options located nearby as well.
This fair is produced by the nonprofit organization The Guild of Artists & Artisans which also produces the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair as well as seven other fine art fairs across southern Michigan and northern Ohio. The Guild also manages the Gutman Gallery in downtown Ann Arbor and has been raising community awareness, understanding and appreciation of the visual arts and maintaining a support network for artists for more than fifty years.
