Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit’s 2nd Annual “Furniture Flip Bash” Fundraiser with HGTV “Love It or List It” Star Hilary Farr Returns Thursday, Sept. 10, at The Village Club in Bloomfield Hills, MI

Guests will bid on almost 100 creatively refurbished furniture pieces by talented Michiganders to help support the nonprofit’s mission of providing essential home furnishings to families in the tri-county area.

Spectacular transformations of old, outdated furniture set to be discarded in landfills will be on full display for attendees to bid on and own at the Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit’s 2^nd Annual “Furniture Flip Bash” fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 10, at The Village Club (190 E. Long Lake Road) in Bloomfield Hills. Almost 100 broken, nicked or worn tables, chairs, desks, dressers, headboards, mirrors, breakfronts and other furniture pieces have been lovingly and meticulously restored by creative Michigan residents as part of the nonprofit’s “Furniture Flip Challenge” into one-of-a-kind upcycled secondhand showstoppers.

Guests can peruse the DIYMasterpieces, which range from whimsical to formal and everything in between,

and participate in a silent auction to raise money to support the nonprofit which has been providing essential furniture and mattresses to families in need in Oakland, Wayne and Macomb Counties for 57 years. A $1,000 cash prize will be awarded to the furniture flip challenge participants whose transformed pieces are selected as Most Artistic, Best Restored, Most Transformative, Best Children’s Piece and People’s Choice, and internationally renowned interior designer Hilary Farr, former star of HGTV’s “Love It or List It,” will be back again this year to select the $5,000 Best in Show grand prize winner.

“It will be memorable night combining creativity, compassion and community for a great cause,” said Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit President & CEO Diane Charles. “People will have a chance to beautify their own homes while helping to turn houses into homes for their neighbors who have endured homelessness and other hardships.”

The event is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and guests will enjoy live entertainment, cocktails, and strolling food stations.

WDIV-TV Anchor/Reporter Kimberly Gill will be the evening’s emcee. Individual tickets are $200 and VIP tickets, including a meet-and-greet with Hilary Farr, are $350.  The Furniture Bank of Metro Detroit, the oldest furniture bank in North America, has helped more than 80,000 families transition from homelessness, domestic violence, house fires, floods and other crises by providing donated as well as new furniture and mattresses to help them rebuild their lives with dignity and comfort.
