The Pirate Fairy {Movie Review}
My family and I had the privilege to see “The Pirate Fairy” last weekend. All opinions expressed here are honest and my own.
Here’s the synopsis from Disney:
THE PIRATE FAIRY
From the world of “Peter Pan” comes “The Pirate Fairy,” a swashbuckling new adventure about Zarina, a smart and ambitious dust-keeper fairy who’s captivated by Blue Pixie Dust and its endless possibilities. When Zarina’s wild ideas get her into trouble, she flees Pixie Hollow and joins forces with the scheming pirates of Skull Rock, who make her captain of their ship. Tinker Bell and her friends must embark on an epic adventure to find Zarina, and together they go sword-to-sword with the band of pirates led by a cabin boy named James, who’ll soon be known as Captain Hook himself. With laughter, heart, magic and thrills, “The Pirate Fairy” sets sail April 1, 2014.

It was super exciting for us because this was my son’s first movie theater experience. He and I both really enjoyed the movie. However, it was super girly. I think this being his first experience in an actual theater distracted him from that fact. He said his favorite part was when the fairies and pirates were battling. I agree! I loved that action too.
There were a few points that I thought were really important to highlight. First, no mistake is ever too big to forgive. Zarina’s friends really just wanted her to come back to Pixie Hollow. They didn’t care about the trouble she had caused because they really loved her. Second, never run from your problems. Running away is what got Zarina mixed up with troublemakers and just caused more problems for everyone. Third, when you interact with unsavory company then you’re likely to get burned. If someone is doing something wrong, then it’s better to stay away!
These are the types of conversations I think are likely to be had with my son as we discuss the movie. I think it’s important to bring to light the different issues that were addressed so that our children can grow emotionally.
