With the bustle of the holiday season, prioritizing yourself has a tendency to fall on the back burner. The joyous parts of the holidays can easily be consumed by the pressure that accompanies the holiday season — travel plans, hosting relatives, and finding the perfect gifts for all of your loved ones.

This year, make Christmas special by being conscious of your well-being. Holiday self-care is about making a point to do something nice for yourself each day during the month of December. To get you started, download this 25 days of self-care calendar, complete with 25 “treat yourself” ideas to wrap up the year and start the new year on the right foot.

Below is a list of self-care ideas to get you started so you can nourish yourself for the holidays.

Meditate

To help improve your mental and physical health, find a time in the morning or evening to meditate. Meditation not only helps boost your mood but also helps improve your immune system. Use this time to practice breath, mindfulness, and clearing your head of any negativity.

Mindful Journaling

Another great way to calm the mind and unwind after a long stressful day is to journal. Practicing self-reflection journaling can help you set goals for yourself, become more mindful, or have a safe place to vent your thoughts and feelings. Write Yourself a Love Letter

An important aspect of self-care is being kind to yourself and practicing self-love, so start by writing yourself a love letter. Jot down things you love and admire about yourself, no matter how big or small. If you are in need of a place to begin, check out this printable self-love letter to get you started.

Do Something Nice For Someone Else

Helping others does so much good for our mental health. Since the holiday season is a time for giving, try doing something nice for someone else, whether it’s volunteering in your community, donating to charity or buying coffee for the person behind you in the drive-thru. Try brightening someone’s day by surprising them with one of these punny and positive holiday cards.

Be Present

We have a bad habit of not really being in the moment due to all the distractions around us, so give yourself the gift of being present. Put your phone away, glance away from the TV, and take in the atmosphere of those closest to you. Make memories that you will cherish for years to come — that’s what the holidays are all about!

Holiday self-care is easy and fun, so do what makes you happy and feel nourished this holiday season. Whether it’s making memories with loved ones or treating yourself with a new outfit, make the last bit of your year memorable by making yourself a priority.
