Visit Modern Mammal Metropolis….#Zootopia 3D {Review}

My family got to  screen Zootopia in 3D in exchange for this review.  Any opinions expressed here are honest and my own.

Have you seen the trailer for Zootopia?  Prior to screening this Disney animated film, I had seen bits and pieces of the movie, but honestly nothing that really sparked my interest, not even my kids.  Let’s just say it’s one of those movies you just have to go see with your family, even if the trailer doesn’t raise your curiosity. Here’s a brief summary:

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”), opens in theaters on March 4, 2016. (WALT DISNEY PICTURES) This film is rated PG.

The movie overall is so much fun and hilarious!  There are a few things I should point out:

  • Two of the animals in the movie uses God’s name in vain at separate times.  :/
  • There is a pop star singer “Gazelle” (also the animal) sung by “Shakira” that is dressed like that of Shakira with the sensual vibe, though it’s thankfully just the body of a Gazelle.  Kind of weird if you know what I mean. 😉
  • The main characters visit an animal oasis during an investigation.  This would equate to those yogas and spas where you can go all natural/nude.  The idea is there, but thankfully it’s all zoo animals not wearing any clothes, where all of the animals in Zootopia are wearing clothes.  You can kind of get an idea of what I mean.  All of the animals are doing yoga poses with that idea in mind.  I don’t think this will phase the kiddies, but the adults were cracking up in the theatre.

That’s pretty much it.  We loved the movie and can’t wait to see it again. It was awesome seeing it in 3D.  The animation rocked! The story line is a lot of fun and all of the characters are so funny.  I won’t spoil too much. 😉
